For this project, we were to design a poster as if an Artist or Band were coming to perform in Milwaukee. I chose the Artist EDEN. EDEN is an alternative singer/songwriter who is known for intimate electro-R&B. EDEN’s style comes across as very minimal so I wanted to keep that calm feeling in my poster. The background is an image I took in Sheboygan, WI. This image had great colors, but also worked well with the darker aesthetic I had in mind. I decided to flip my horizontal image vertically to create more visual interest. I experimented with the typography by distorting it with the scanner on my printer. I wrote out the name EDEN in several different styles and wiggled the paper around while scanning. This project was successful for me. I learned how to create a piece that wasn’t fully digital and also enjoyed this experimental process.
